SATURDAY APRIL 10TH
Opera Night Out: Salome
@ Ordway
345 Washington St N
St. Paul
7:30pm-1am / $35+
“Obsession, served on a platter?”...Sounds delicious to us. Tonight, the Minnesota Opera debuts their production of Strauss’s erotic Biblical retelling of obsession, desire and epic vengeance: Salome. Following the Bible-based story, seductress Salome (Mlada Khudoley) vows revenge after the imprisoned prophet John the Baptist dismisses her lustful propositions. Illicited to dance for the powerful, lecherous King Herod -- who promises the beautiful coquette any payment she wishes -- Salome perversely commands the Baptist’s head on a silver platter. Filled with decadent scandal, lusty charm and gorgeous deviance, the infamous opera is not to be missed. Following the performance, join the MN Opera’s hip young patrons group, Tempo, for an exclusive after-party at nearby hotspot, Pop! (6 W. 6th St.) which will feature an evening of complimentary hors d’oeuvres, Middle Eastern treats and scrumptious cocktail specials. Plus, belly dancing, portrait sittings in Salome’s palace, an International Dance Music set from Radio K and a trunk show with scarves, pashminas and jewelry for purchase courtesy of A Turkish Affair boutique. Fancy! Salome runs through April 24th.
